PROTESTORS

Sonn Macmillan Walker has specialised in acting for protesters for many years, particularly animal rights activists, hunt saboteurs, anti-war protestors, anti-capitalists and Fathers for Justice.

Many cases involve offences specifically introduced to prevent or hinder protest and require a detailed and working knowledge of all relevant legislation.

Cases are regularly won as a result of the prosecution failing to prove an essential element of the offence or through successful argument that a client’s behaviour does not contravene the law.

Protest cases often involve large numbers of defendants and we have experience in conducting lengthy trials in both the Magistrates' and Crown Courts.

The firm has recently represented defendants in two of the longest ever criminal trials involving animal rights protestors.
