ACTIONS AGAINST THE POLICEhome > expertise > actions against the police The police possess enormous powers to arrest, detain and search persons and premises. By and large those powers are exercised lawfully, however, occasionally they are not. Those who have been wrongfully arrested detained or searched may wish to bring a civil action against the police. Sonn Macmillan Walker can advise whether such a claim stands a prospect of succeeding. If proceedings are recommended, we can undertake such work on a private basis or under a conditional fee agreement (no win no fee). We also advise businesses (including professional advisers) and individuals on how to react when investigators obtain a production order in the Crown Court requiring the business or individual to deliver up documentary or other evidence. In certain circumstances, the grant of those orders can be challenged. Contact David Sonn for a prompt response to your enquiry. |
