£185,000 money laundering acquittal

By David Sonn  |  05.04.2017

Sonn Macmillan Walker acted for M who was acquitted of money laundering at Wood Green Crown Court on 30.03.17.

He was arrested in 2016, in the course of a street exchange of around £185,000 in cash.   As part of his defence it was submitted that, absent the prosecution identifying the crime of which the cash was said to represent the proceeds, there wasn’t an irresistible inference (as the law requires) that the cash was the proceeds of crime.

The case was prepared by David Sonn and trial counsel was Howard Godfrey QC
