Driving Offences

If you are a driver, statistics suggest that during your lifetime you are likely to face some sort of prosecution relating to the use of a motor vehicle. This may range from a fairly minor speeding offence to more serious offences such as driving with excess alcohol, dangerous driving and possibly even causing death by careless or dangerous driving.

The law relating to motoring offences is complicated and many criminal law firms are not experienced in dealing with such matters, despite their claim to be so.

Sonn Macmillan Walker specialise in motoring offences and have done so for many years. Our specialist motor offence solicitors regularly appear in the Magistrates' Court, Crown Court and High Court in connection with driving related appeals.

Partner David Sonn is a founding and executive member of the Association of Motor Offence Lawyers .  He also lectures on the subject, is a driving solicitor in the field and appears in the news media.

Unlike certain lawyers who will publicise your case to enhance their own reputation, this firm will act on your behalf with complete discretion. It is for that reason that we are often instructed by prominent sportsmen and celebrities.

Except for the most serious cases, legal aid is not available to those prosecuted for road traffic offences. We therefore undertake such work on a private basis. Depending on a number of factors, we may charge either a fixed fee or at an hourly rate. By way of guidance, a single appearance at a central London Magistrates' Court will cost from £500 plus VAT.
