Repeat burglar avoids jail
Despite large number of previous convictions the court was persuaded not to send him straight to prison.
Our client pleaded guilty to four counts of commercial burglary resulting in a total loss to victims of around £5000. The prosecution submitted that this was a category one offence within the relevant Overarching Sentencing Guideline, with a starting point of two years in custody. Although our client had previous convictions for 58 offences, including for 39 offences of burglary, the Court was persuaded that our client needed help for his drug problems rather than an immediate custodial sentence. Our client received a suspended sentence with a 12 month drug rehabilitation requirement.
Amy Cox and Milly Blunt acted for our client.
