Sonn Macmillan Walker is delighted to announce that Leah Connolly, Leading Associate and Head of our Youth Team, has achieved a Band 5 ranking for Crime in the Chambers and Partners UK Guide 2027, progressing from her previous Up and Coming recognition.

This significant achievement reflects Leah's growing reputation as a leading criminal defence practitioner and her exceptional dedication to representing children and young people facing serious criminal allegations.

This is a move up from Up and Coming in last year's edition.

Leah is widely recognised for her expertise in youth justice, particularly in complex cases involving serious violence, sexual offences, firearms and drugs conspiracies. Her meticulous approach to case preparation, combined with her compassionate understanding of the unique challenges faced by young defendants, has earned her considerable respect within the profession.

The Chambers guide has praised Leah's legal ability and commitment to her clients, with commentators describing her as:

"Leah is a fantastic lawyer, with an eye for detail. She is very understanding of the youth clients that she deals with and undoubtedly a tour de force in the youth justice arena."

Another commentator highlighted her dedication, stating:

"Leah is very committed to youth justice."

Beyond her casework, Leah is a co-founder of the Youth Practitioners' Association, demonstrating her commitment to improving the representation and treatment of young people within the criminal justice system.

Leah's progression to Band 5 marks an exciting milestone in her career and is a well-deserved acknowledgement of her exceptional ability, dedication and increasingly influential role within the criminal defence profession. We are delighted to celebrate this achievement and look forward to her continued success.
