Alex Whitmore
Alex completed her Scottish law degree at Edinburgh University, converted to English law at Nottingham Law School and joined the team at Sonn Macmillan Walker as soon as she graduated. She qualified as a barrister, before cross qualifying to practise as a solicitor.
Alex is one of Sonn Macmillan Walker’s leading magistrates’ court practitioners and is head of the police station team. She has extensive experience in defending in every area of criminal law and predominantly assists clients through the legal aid funding scheme, as well as some privately funded work.
Alex is a qualified barrister and practising solicitor with varied and extensive experience defending clients. Her practice is embedded in attending police stations to provide early assistance which continues through to representation in the magistrates’ court. She regularly attends clients to provide advice and representation ahead of the first appearance at court and beyond.
Alex has represented clients charged with a variety of offences. Her practice extends from minor offences to the most serious offences including sexual offences and terrorism.
Alex is known for her ability to work with vulnerable clients, particularly young offenders and those suffering from mental health conditions. She has developed a strong practice in assisting vulnerable individuals facing serious charges.
Alex’s priority is always the client. She offers support from the start of a case until the conclusion, which includes making contact with police officers before charge and ensuring the client is informed of all developments throughout the entire process.
