Multiple assault charges dropped after lengthy representations to CPS

In 2024, our client was charged with assaulting his partner. His partner had called the police claiming he was assaulted. The police attending and he showed them an injury to his head.
Our client had what was described as a 'bloody mouth'. Comments made were recorded by the officers body worn cameras, it was clear on that footage that the partner was drunk. He refused to provide a statement.
Our client's defence was that this partner was so drunk he must have fallen and hit his head, our client was punched by him. With the help of our client we were able to obtain footage showing his partner's previous behaviour, showing he had been abusive whilst drunk in the past we also obtained a witness statement from a friend voicing concerns about his partners' past behaviour.
Lengthy representations were made and without viewing the footage the prosecution discontinued the matter. The parties reconciled.
Our client was arrested again in 2025, the circumstances being very similar. Again the partner did not provide a statement. Our client called the police asking for help to get him out of the premises they shared due to him being drunk and abusive, oddly there was no mention of the call in the case summary given to us at the magistrates court however that call was not disputed.
This partner then called the police hours later claiming he was being assaulted and at this point officers arrived.
Again, lengthy representations were made and a list of disclosure documents which we argued should have been served initially was made. Again, the prosecution discontinued the case.
Rachel Hobba represented the client in this case.
