Not Guilty Verdict Recorded for PWITS Class A Drugs

Daniel Cavaglieri

30 November 2022

Our client was charged with possessing over 5kg of methamphetamine and heroin with intent to supply it to others.

The drugs were found in a cupboard and the defendant’s fingerprints were on scales found with the drugs. The defendant was represented by another firm when interviewed by the police and should have entered a prepared statement but instead, answered questions rather unconvincingly.

The police incorrectly used a Dari interpreter rather than a Farsi interpreter at interview. We obtained a report which highlighted the mistranslations and resulted in the interview transcript being significantly edited. We also served an extensive bundle of documents which established the defendant had moved out of the flat before the drugs were found and could afford the lifestyle the prosecution stated was beyond his means.

The prosecution offered no evidence on the day of trial which was before Southwark Crown Court. Our client was delighted with this result.

Daniel Cavaglieri was the solicitor with conduct of this case.
