After a two-week trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court, our 21-year-old client was unanimously acquitted by the jury of three counts of rape.

The Allegations

The prosecution alleged that our client, alongside another individual, lured a woman to a flat under false pretences. It was claimed that once inside, she was subjected to threats, violence, and serious sexual assault.

The Defence

Our client was shocked by the allegations and consistently denied any wrongdoing. His defence was a combination of factual denial and consent. He maintained throughout that all interactions had occurred with the full consent of both parties.

The Evidence

The prosecution relied heavily on CCTV footage tracking the movements of those involved, as well as extensive mobile phone evidence relating to the nature of the relationship and events surrounding the incident.

Unanimous Acquittal

After careful consideration of all the evidence, the jury returned unanimous not guilty verdicts on all counts.

A Positive Outcome

While the process was extremely stressful for our client, he was immensely relieved by the result and deeply grateful for the support and expertise of Leah, Katie, and Nich throughout the proceedings.

Leah Connolly acted in this case; she was assisted by Katie Lobo and Nicholas Maggs of 2 Bedford Row Chambers.
