Acquittal after alleged racial abuse to security operative

By David Sonn  |  01.05.2019

Sonn Macmillan Walker represented a high-profile defendant charged with racially aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress.

The charge arose from an incident at St Pancras International when this firm’s client allegedly racially abused the security operative who was searching him. Our client denied the abuse, claiming that he had said something different which it was accepted did not constitute the offence. The prosecution relied on the evidence of the complainant and two other security operatives.  Our client was acquitted at the end of his trial.

The case was prepared by David Sonn, who also acted as trial advocate.
