Suspended sentence for client found with 41.9g cocaine

By Amy Cox  |  17.07.2019

Our client was charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs having been found in a car with 41.9g of cocaine in his trousers. We represented the client at both the magistrates’ and then the Crown Court once the matter was committed for sentence.

We collated various character references and information for the client’s mitigation, as well as a table of expenses to show that the client had been suffering from financial pressure at the time of the offence but was now stabilised. The client was given a 2-year suspended sentence order with 250 hours of unpaid work and avoided immediate custody. This is well below the sentencing guidelines which has a starting point of 4 ½ years’ imprisonment for the quantity of drugs seized in this matter.

Claudia Barker and Daisy Jones prepared the case. Dominic Thomas of 25 Bedford Row was instructed.
