Brexit Discussions at Defence Extradition Lawyers Forum

By  |  02.10.2018

On 14th September 2018 Euan Macmillan, Chris Stevens and Jess Dunk attended the Defence Extradition Lawyers Forum (DELF) conference in London. This was the first conference to be held by DELF and was well attended by practitioners and experts from around the world.

The key topics discussed at the conference included predictions on the landscape for extradition practitioners following Brexit, an update from Fair Trials importance of sharing information about those who have been returned and input from practitioners from Poland, The Netherlands, Portugal and Germany about the current issues arising those states. We also heard from inspectors from the Commission for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) who offered a very interesting insight into the work that they do.

The conference was an excellent event and opportunity to share ideas with practitioners from other countries. A crucial piece of advice that we give all our extradition clients is to ensure that they instruct the lawyer in both this country and the country making the request.

If you have a query about extradition please contact Chris Stevens or Jess Dunk at Sonn Macmillan Walker.
