Sexual Offences

At Sonn Macmillan Walker, we have extensive experience of representing individuals charged with sexual offences. We recognise that these types of allegations can be extremely distressing and are accomplished in representing clients with tact and sensitivity.

We regularly act in respect of sexual allegations of a historic nature that can disrupt an individuals life so many years after the alleged incidents. In such cases we are alive to any potential argument that the delay in bringing the prosecution could amount to an abuse of process. We have significant experience in representing individuals accused of committing these types of offences and breaching a position of trust, having previously represented for example teachers and doctors.

When consent is the issue in a case we are adept at carefully analysing the evidence looking for inconsistencies in accounts and rigorously pursuing disclosure requests which may assist our clients' defences. We appreciate how distressing it can be providing instructions and preparing to give evidence at trial in these kinds of cases and are supportive and patient with our clients throughout the process.

In respect of allegations concerning indecent images we are used to identifying and instructing suitable experts particularly to consider access and storage of images on devices.
